A Sandy Sports & Culture Project:
Global Magnet, Local Heart.
A pragmatic vision to build a world-class sports and film destination on Minjerribah, creating jobs, celebrating culture, and driving a resilient local economy.
See the OpportunityTwo Magnets, One Vision
This strategy is built on two synergistic, high-potential initiatives. The Sandy Sports Club provides the action and athletic content, while the Quandamooka Film Festival tells the stories, creating a powerful, self-reinforcing ecosystem for tourism and media.
The Sandy Sports Club
A multi-purpose sand arena and community hub in Dunwich and/or Amity, designed for everything from elite Olympic training to local kids' sport, wellness retreats, and major events. It's the physical heart of the project.
The Quandamooka Film Festival
An innovative film festival that celebrates stories of all kindsβfrom Indigenous narratives to AI-generated art. It's the creative soul, providing a global platform for Minjerribah's voice.
The Sand Sports Expo
The Sandy Sports Club will be a flexible venue capable of hosting a diverse range of high-energy, broadcast-friendly sand sports. This creates multiple revenue streams and attracts a wide demographic of athletes and fans.
The Film Festival: A Stage for Stories
More than just a screening, the Quandamooka Film Festival is an accessible, innovative movement. It's designed to empower new voices, celebrate culture, and create a unique intersection of art and technology.
Meet the AI Film Crew
The "AI Director Assistant" isn't a single tool, but a collaborative team of specialized AI agents. Each character represents a core function, working together to help creators bring their stories to life.
Partners for Success
This project stands on three core pillars of partnership. Success requires a balanced, collaborative approach between Council, Quandamooka representatives, and the broader community and industry.
Civic Partnership
Redland City Council would need to be a key partner for land use, approvals, and potential seed funding. We will work within the Land Management Plan to activate the Amity Point Sports Reserve and/or in Dunwich for community and economic benefit.
Cultural Partnership
QYAC & MMEICAC are the essential cultural authorities. We are committed to a sparking genuine partnerships based on respect, ensuring all activities are available for all cultures and create tangible benefits for the Quandamooka people.
Industry & Community
Engaging with Sporting Bodies (Volleyball QLD, NFL Australia), Tourism Orgs (Tourism and Events Queensland TEQ), schools, and local businesses is vital for programming, promotion, and ensuring the project is woven into the fabric of the island.
A Constellation of Champions
To achieve global reach, we need champions. This is a curated wish-list of potential ambassadors from sport, film, and business who might be inspired to lend their credibility and network to the project.
The Game Plan
A pragmatic, three-phase rollout to build momentum, prove the concept, and scale for long-term success. Each phase has clear goals and de-risks the next stage of investment.
The Scoreboard
Measuring success through clear economic and community metrics. This project is designed to be a powerful engine for local prosperity.
