Choose a rough size, decide whether large acts or parts would help, then divide the book into chapters and scenes. The figures are working data, not rules.

The supplied 55,000-word and 200-page category-romance example works out to about 275 words per page. Printed and ebook pages vary with trim size, type, layout and screen.
Optional large sections
Acts and parts are large sections containing chapters. Choose a starting split, rename every section, change its relative size or leave the book as one continuous chapter plan.
Relative size compares the sections with one another. For example, 25, 50, 25 makes the middle section about twice as large. The numbers do not need to total 100.
