Clear product, useful free path, plain onboarding and reliable everyday value.
Who is behind the tool?
The best AI for a beginner is not always the smartest model. It is the tool whose people, policies, price, data habits and public record you can live with.
Filters are a reading aid. They are not a final recommendation.
Broader model map, clearer trust lens.
This page now uses LifeArchitect's public AI models table by Dr Alan D. Thompson as an attributed coverage reference for the wider model landscape. Scores here still come from this site's trust lens: terms, privacy, leadership, origin, military or government links, controversy, public benefit and beginner usability.
How the score is made.
The score is a dated beginner trust signal out of 100. It is not a stock rating, moral verdict or claim that one model is "best". Every category is worth 10 points, so a useful beginner app cannot outrank serious power, privacy or public-record concerns by convenience alone.
Defence is now being refreshed as a case-by-case category. A direct military, intelligence or national-security contract lowers the score; clear public limits around surveillance, autonomous weapons and lawful scope can lift it a little, but do not erase the contract.
Visible pricing, simple cancellation, understandable limits and fewer surprise credits.
Clear training rules, retention, deletion, human review, opt-outs and business data controls.
Plain rights for outputs, commercial use, uploads, voice, likeness, music and generated media.
Official docs, model cards, safety notes, pricing pages, product boundaries and sourceable claims.
Abuse handling, scam resistance, child and consent risks, incident response and misuse history.
Leadership conduct, governance, major controversy, incentives and personal investment conflicts.
Military, intelligence, policing, border, national-security and government deployment exposure.
Country of origin, data jurisdiction, surveillance environment, censorship risk and political stability.
Open releases, science, accessibility, education, community tools and evidence of useful good deeds.
Scores move when public facts move. The power side is deliberately split into leadership ethics, defence involvement, and country or surveillance context so readers can see what kind of risk is being counted.
Plain-English starter view.
These cards combine official pages, policy documents, public reporting and known controversies. Scores are a practical beginner signal, not a moral verdict.
