Start a makerspace

This is the makerspace I'm working to start on Minjerribah, out in the open, with AI as my only co-worker so far. It isn't running yet; it needs people. Here's what I'm building, and how you'd start your own, wherever you are.

What I'm building here

A place to repair, build and tinker, for every age

A makerspace is a shared room with the right tools and a bit of know-how: somewhere you can mend the thing that broke instead of binning it, build the thing you pictured, and show a kid how a drill works. I'm putting the whole plan together as a lab you can look right inside: the tools, the layout, the way it might run. Because I'm doing it on my own with AI, it stays a description ahead of a workshop until the island gets involved. It only becomes real the moment people turn up to build it with me.

If you're on Straddie, that's the open invitation: come and help ground it, bring a busted lamp and a curious kid. If you're anywhere else, read on.

Build your own, wherever you are

Same idea, shaped to your place

The reason it lives here, on Aura of Intelligence, is so it's more than my island's workshop. Take it as a worked example and build your own: same idea, shaped to your town, your neighbours, the skills already sitting quietly in your community. Not a copy of mine, yours, custom to your place and your lived experience.

That's the whole point of building your own tools and systems instead of renting someone else's. You keep what you make, and it grows the way your community does. The short video walks through how I'm approaching it, so you can borrow what fits and leave the rest.
