Disaster-ready kiosks

These are the disaster-ready kiosks I'm working to start on Minjerribah, out in the open, with AI as my only co-worker so far. They aren't out there yet; they need people. Here's what I'm building, and how you'd start your own, wherever you are.

What I'm building here

Kiosks that keep a community informed when the lights go out

A disaster-ready kiosk is a simple, offline-first point that keeps working when the power and the network go down: where to find water, which roads are cut, when the ferry runs, who needs a hand. It's preparedness the community owns rather than waits for. I'm putting the whole plan together as a lab you can look right inside: the hardware, the offline content, the way it stays current. Because I'm doing it on my own with AI, it stays a description ahead of a working kiosk until the island gets involved. It only becomes real when local people place them, stock them and keep them maintained.

If you're on Straddie, that's the open invitation: come and help ground it, tell me where a kiosk would actually be useful. If you're anywhere else, read on.

Build your own, wherever you are

Same idea, shaped to your place

The reason it lives here, on Aura of Intelligence, is so it's more than my island's kiosks. Take it as a worked example and build your own: same idea, shaped to your town, your hazards, the places your community already gathers when things go wrong. Not a copy of mine, yours, custom to your place and your lived experience.

That's the whole point of building your own tools and systems instead of renting someone else's. You keep what you make, and it grows the way your community does. The short video walks through how I'm approaching it, so you can borrow what fits and leave the rest.
