Before Resolve opens
Prepare one small test package.
Use copies, not the only copy of important recordings. The first goal is to learn how the pieces connect.
Gather the media
Put the video, audio, artwork and a plain text note about the desired result in one folder.
Keep originals safe
Work from copies and keep the original recordings somewhere the automation will not alter.
Pick the bundle
Choose the matching project identity. Do not mix Two Dogs, i C. infinity or community-media assets.
First computer test
Learn what Astra can actually do.
A feature is not part of the dependable workflow until it has worked in the installed version of Resolve on the real editing computer.
- Create a new disposable Resolve project.
- Confirm that Astra can connect without changing another project.
- Test one read-only action, such as listing the current project or timeline.
- Test one small change, such as creating a bin or marker.
- Undo the change and confirm the project remains healthy.
- Record the exact command that worked.
- Only then move to media imports, timelines, captions and exports.

First real pilot
Make one complete little video.
The first pilot should exercise the whole path without becoming precious or overwhelming.
- Import media.
- Build a short timeline.
- Apply one approved visual bundle.
- Add a title and captions.
- Export one widescreen master.
- Watch the exported file away from the editing timeline.
Success means repeatable, not merely impressive.
A useful automation can be run again next week, understood by a beginner and repaired when something changes.
