2045 is already
under construction.
Future of Life 2045 connects a living network of larger families, open intelligence, regenerative places, culture, law and self-sovereign movement. The vision has been developing since 2010. Pieces of it are being built now.
A future lived, not merely predicted
2045 is a world where love, care, work, learning and responsibility move through wider circles. Family is larger than a two-person pressure vessel. Intelligence develops in relationship. Technology strengthens human agency. Planetary repair becomes daily life.
This site moves between intimate mornings and civilisation-scale systems, while keeping original vision, active public work and future proposals clearly distinct.
The world is a connected system
Open a doorway into five forces shaping the 2045 vision.
Family is infrastructure.
Expecting one person to be lover, co-parent, provider, confidant, domestic partner and lifelong match has become a narrow doorway into family life. Group marriage opens more possible shapes.
The proposal is unapologetically in favour of self-sovereign adults forming larger committed family constellations. Each constellation defines its own love, parenting, homes, money, privacy and responsibilities.

The work spans relationships, law, movement, resilience, intelligence, science, story and music. Every public project has its own purpose. Their connections reveal the wider direction.
Open the interactive project networkA long-running plan tested through worldbuilding
Luke Nathan Hayes has developed his future plan since 2010. In 2022, he adapted part of that existing vision for the Future of Life Institute Worldbuilding Contest. It did not make the finalists, but it was a fascinating experiment. The original workbook and two day-in-the-life stories now act as historical source material, not proof that every projected event occurred.
The future becomes real through the lives we practise now.
Explore the original 2045 world, then follow the public projects turning fragments of it into reality.
