Six fictional example briefs

The roles, illustrative earnings and research behind the six complete sample briefs.

All six companies and vacancies are fictional. These earnings are examples informed by Australian sources, not verified offers or legal pay calculations.

Research checked 23 October 2026. These are teaching examples, not actual vacancies, employer commitments, legal pay calculations or forecasts. The 2030 closing date is an obvious fixed sample date, not a claim that these rates will apply then. Every company is invented. Application contacts use reserved example.org addresses and paths; they are not recruitment channels. Research websites below are separate from those fictional contacts.

The ranges below are editorial choices informed by Australian pay evidence. They are before income tax, exclude superannuation and are not independently verified offers. Every example retains Not yet for the employer's pay/conditions check. Determine actual award/agreement coverage, classification, ordinary hours, penalties, overtime, allowances and super before replacing the sample with a real brief. Do not infer that a salary absorbs additional entitlements.

ExampleIllustrative earningsBasis and research context
Entry-level retail assistant, CapalabaAUD $36-$38 per hour, including 25% casual loading, plus superAdult-rate illustration, not an age restriction. Underlying illustrative base $28.80-$30.40; do not add loading twice. Usually 12-20 casual hours, not guaranteed. Weekday daytime shifts; applicable evening/weekend/holiday penalties and overtime extra. The General Retail Industry Award, clause 17, lists adult Level 1 at $27.81 per hour; clause 11 provides 25% casual loading. Our range is a fictional offer above that reference, not an award-rate calculation. No experience required; paid induction is part of the invented brief.
Licensed maintenance electrician, Cleveland/RedlandsAUD $50-$58 per ordinary hour, plus superPermanent full-time, 38 ordinary hours. No casual loading; applicable allowances, overtime and penalties extra. Jobs and Skills Australia, Electricians reports median full-time weekly earnings of $2,191, using May 2025 ABS data. This broad occupational measure is not an hourly base rate for a 38-hour job. SEEK's electrician salary page also provides advertised-pay context. The example is an editorial local maintenance offer.
Graduate accountant, ClevelandAUD $68,000-$75,000 annual base, plus superPermanent full-time, 38 ordinary hours; any applicable overtime/penalties extra. No casual loading or assumed professional-course funding. Prosple's accounting graduate guide reports a broad $50,000-$75,000 graduate range. We select its upper portion for a fictional offer, not a universal graduate entitlement. Award coverage is deliberately unverified; an accounting degree does not establish award-free status.
Retail store manager, Victoria PointAUD $78,000-$85,000 annual base, plus super38 ordinary hours averaged over a two-week roster, alternate Saturdays. Applicable Saturday penalties and overtime are extra, not absorbed in the salary. SEEK's store manager salary page reports a $70,000-$85,000 advertised range. The example uses its upper portion. The Retail Award and Level 8 are indicative entries requiring review against actual duties.
Software engineer, remote QueenslandAUD $110,000-$125,000 annual base, plus superPermanent full-time, 38 ordinary hours; no on-call roster, bonus or equity. Any applicable overtime/penalties extra. SEEK's software engineer salary page shows Brisbane at $115,000 and an ICT industry average of $128,060 when checked. SEEK's advertised figures mix salary packages that include or exclude super; our fictional range explicitly excludes it. Professional Employees Award coverage and classification remain unverified.
Aged-care personal care worker, ThornlandsAUD $38-$42 per ordinary hour, plus superPermanent part-time, 24 guaranteed hours, three weekday day shifts. No casual loading; applicable shift penalties, overtime and allowances extra. The Aged Care Award, clause 14.3, lists qualified direct-care Level 3 at $1,376.70 per week from July 2026; the example range is an editorial offer, not the award minimum. Residential care is distinct from home care and nursing employment.

SEEK salary insights come from disclosed advertised full-time ranges; industry, experience, location and package treatment vary. JSA data cover an occupation, not an individual offer. Neither establishes legal compliance. Use Fair Work's current pay guides and Pay and Conditions Tool for an actual employer check.

Qualifications and hiring pathways

The electrician example requires a current Queensland electrical work licence authorising the work. WorkSafe Queensland's licence guidance is the official starting point. The sample is a qualified employee role, not an apprentice or contractor arrangement; the employer must verify licence scope and status.

For the aged-care example, Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent is a sample employer requirement for the illustrated qualified role. The Aged Care Award's Schedule B.2.3 describes this qualified direct-care classification. It is not a claim that every aged-care job requires that certificate. New qualified entrants may apply. The sample includes paid site induction and supervised buddy shifts, not independent nursing assessment or medication administration.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission's workforce obligations require appropriate skills, qualifications and experience and current worker screening. Its guidance generally identifies police-certificate or NDIS worker-screening routes, depending on the circumstances, and notes future changes. Therefore the brief asks the employer to verify the current applicable checks before starting, rather than promising one fixed process. No resident details or applicant screening documents belong in this ad-writing tool.

The other pathways are stated in the fictional briefs: no-experience entry and paid induction; graduate interviews drawing on university/placement work; management interviews about team supervision; and a technical discussion plus a short paired interview exercise. These are invented process details for the examples, not claims about the cited employers, publishers or the regional labour market.
