Community Club Builder
Build the club before the burden lands on one person. A self-sovereign pathway for people who want the quickest clear route, without being told what to think.
Start where the energy is real.
At this stage, Sandy Sports is a proposal, a preparation system and an invitation. These lanes help early supporters recognise whether they are drawn to legitimacy, continuity, systems, relationships, care, evidence or culture. If enough trusted people recognise themselves here, the same lanes can become shared responsibilities instead of another project collapsing onto one person.
Make it legitimate
Incorporation, rules, committee duties, child safety and the site-permission boundary.
Share the weight
Roles, backups, term limits, handover notes and the no lone hero rule.
Automate the boring bits
Forms, registers, minutes, rosters, grant evidence and AI review gates.
Connect the labs
Use grants, tenders, film and documentary builders as support systems, not the centre.
Move by evidence
Care, wellbeing, attendance and trust come first. Grants and tenders work better when they follow real proof.
Choose the four
Find trusted humans who can play, listen, decide and hold authority while agents handle the basics.
The club stays portable while the place stays open.
The Sandy Sports idea can learn from Amity, the Dunwich/Gumpi landing and Ballow Road site context, Point Lookout's visitor-facing town role, beach trials, grants, tenders and film pathways without pretending any site, facility or partner already exists.
The club is the people layer. Temporary beach activity can test demand across places. The longer facility horizon stays Dunwich/Gumpi, with Ballow Road treated as uncertain context inside that horizon, while Point Lookout can carry showcase, visitor, tourism-worker, retiree and media-facing moments if that role earns support.
AI assists the system. It does not become the system.
Self-sovereign does not mean doing admin alone. The stronger pattern is consent-aware records, shared access, human decision gates and AI doing the first boring draft.
Public layer
Website, join form, event calendar, waitlist, updates and public evidence.
Operations layer
Members, volunteers, money, assets, safety, rosters and recurring reminders.
Knowledge layer
Rules, policies, minutes, agreements, grant notes and handover packs.
Leadership can feel lived in.
Mixed-gender leadership with trusted female leadership changes the everyday feel of the club: who notices quiet people, who welcomes families, who calls time on rough behaviour, who handles money, who speaks in public and who younger people can imagine becoming.
The aim is a team that can stay human under pressure: visible enough to be trusted, humble enough to listen, and organised enough that no one has to carry the whole thing alone.
Self-sort without being assigned.
No one has to arrive knowing their title. A person might first be curious about playing, parenting, teaching, organising, building, health, media, funding, local business or simply making the island feel less lonely. The point is to notice where contribution feels honest now, then let that contribution mature if the club forms.
If one person is the operating system, the club is already fragile.
