Make films on your phone

This is the filmmaking pathway I'm working to start on Minjerribah, out in the open, with AI as my only co-worker so far. It isn't running yet; it needs people. Here's what I'm building, and how you'd start your own, wherever you are.

What I'm building here

First-time filmmakers, using only the phone in their pocket

You don't need a camera crew or a film degree to tell a story; you need the phone that's already in your pocket and someone to walk the first few steps with you. I'm building this as a pathway from your very first short, thirty seconds of something you love, all the way to a proper community documentary made together. I'm laying out the whole thing in the open: the plan, the tools, the moving parts. Because I'm doing it on my own with AI, it stays a description ahead of a crowd until people pick up their phones and start filming. It only becomes real when the island's stories start being told.

If you're on Straddie, that's the open invitation: come and help ground it, and bring the story you've been meaning to tell. If you're anywhere else, read on.

Build your own, wherever you are

Same idea, shaped to your place

The reason it lives here, on Aura of Intelligence, is so it's more than my island's film club. Take it as a worked example and build your own: same idea, shaped to your town, your stories, the people around you who've never been handed the chance to be on screen or behind it. Not a copy of mine, yours, custom to your place and your lived experience.

That's the whole point of building your own tools and systems instead of renting someone else's. You keep what you make, the stories stay with the people who lived them, and it grows the way your community does. The short video walks through how I'm approaching it, so you can borrow what fits and leave the rest.
