Our Island Home!
analysed
A ferry lands at Goompi carrying someone who has come from far away. Over one island day they are handed from morning light to a beach, to a campfire, to a Quandamooka story, until by the outro they no longer feel like a visitor but like family. The drama is the exact moment their status flips from guest to belonging.
Arc: Opens at sunrise greeting arrivals with open hearts, and closes at nightfall folding every stranger into family around a shared memory.

Our Island Home
This island calls you home to stay
Where every wave whispers you belong
There's room for me, there's room for you
On this land by the salt-kissed sea
We're all together, hearts set free
In this island home, where we're all family
Come on in, let's make a memory
Line by line
“Sunrise over Mooloomba, we greet the day with open hearts”
Wide static shot: sun clearing the headland at Mooloomba, a line of locals on the dune ridge turning their faces into the low gold light, arms loose at their sides, actually open-handed.
“From Amity to Goompi, we all play our part”
A travelling map-cut: Amity Point jetty, then the Goompi (Dunwich) ferry ramp, tying two ends of the island with a single tracking move along the water.
“On the shores of Minjerribah, where the sand is soft and white”
Macro on bare feet sinking into fine white sand, grains falling off toes in slow motion, the Quandamooka name held on screen over the image.
“There's a welcome for you, love, in the morning light”
A weathered local woman looks straight into lens and mouths 'love' as a term of address, backlit by morning haze. Break the fourth wall: the welcome is aimed at the viewer.
“Whether you're from here or far away, this island calls you home to stay”
Ferry window POV: a newcomer's reflection ghosted over the approaching shoreline through the salt-streaked glass, the island literally overlaid on their face.
“Where the ocean meets the sky”
Hold on a dead-flat horizon at slack light so the seam between sea and sky nearly disappears, a single figure small against it for scale.
“Where every wave whispers You belong, don't pass us by”
Gentle magical realism: shoot a wave's foam edge in slow motion so the retreating water seems to shape the words in the wet sand before it erases them.
“From the red rocks to the Points high view”
Push up the ochre-red rock steps at North Gorge to reveal the elevated headland lookout, the colour jump from red stone to blue water doing the work.
“There's room for me, there's room for you”
A handwritten cardboard sign propped on a fence reading the line, then a hand pins a second name below it, the sign growing as more people add to it.
“Down at Cylinder Beach, the water's clear and cool”
Underwater half-and-half split shot at Cylinder Beach: clear green water below, kids' legs and blue sky above the waterline.
“Pulan's dolphins dance, nature's perfect rule”
Drone lifts to catch a pod of dolphins arcing in formation offshore, unscored for one beat so you hear only surf. Name Pulan (Amity) on screen to root it locally.
“Gather 'round the fire, let's share a laugh or two”
Tight orbit around a beach campfire circle, faces warm-lit and mid-laugh, sparks lifting into blue dusk. The album's campfire circle made literal.
“From the trees of Dunwich to the deep blue seas”
A slow tilt from dappled light through Dunwich gum trees down to the deep water, one continuous move linking forest and sea.
“Let the history flow through your soul, from the Quandamooka stories of old”
An elder's hands trace a place-name carved or handwritten on weathered timber; cut to the same name on a modern road sign. History as a current between old and now.
“Every name, every place has a tale to tell”
Rapid montage of hand-painted local place-name signs (Minjerribah, Goompi, Pulan, Mooloomba), each held just long enough to read, insisting these are real named places not scenery.
“So come on in, let's make a memory, where we're all family”
End on a shoreline dance at last light: the newcomer from the ferry now pulled into the circle by the hand, no longer looking through glass but inside the frame.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Sunrise over Mooloomba, we greet the day with open hearts,
From Amity to Goompi, we all play our part.
On the shores of Minjerribah, where the sand is soft and white,
There’s a welcome for you, love, in the morning light.
Whether you're from here or far away,
This island calls you home to stay.
Chorus
Our island home, where the ocean meets the sky,
Where every wave whispers You belong, don’t pass us by.
From the red rocks to the Points high view,
There’s room for me, there’s room for you.
We’re all together, hearts set free,
On this land by the salt-kissed sea.
Verse 2
Down at Cylinder Beach, the water’s clear and cool,
Pulan’s dolphins dance, nature’s perfect rule.
Gather ‘round the fire, let’s share a laugh or two,
On North Straddie, there’s always something new.
Feel the spirit of the island in every breeze,
From the trees of Dunwich to the deep blue seas.
Chorus
Our island home, where the ocean meets the sky,
Where every wave whispers You belong, don’t pass us by.
From the red rocks to the Points high view,
There’s room for me, there’s room for you.
We’re all together, hearts set free,
On this land by the salt-kissed sea.
Bridge
Let the history flow through your soul,
From the Quandamooka stories of old.
Every name, every place has a tale to tell,
And here, we’re all part of it as well.
Chorus
Our island home, where the ocean meets the sky,
Where every wave whispers You belong, don’t pass us by.
From the red rocks to the Points high view,
There’s room for me, there’s room for you.
We’re all together, hearts set free,
On this land by the salt-kissed sea.
Outro
So come on in, let’s make a memory,
In this island home, where we’re all family.
