Ask a willing group what makes the chosen setting easier or harder to use.

Mental Health & Happiness
Study what people say would improve their wellbeing without reducing happiness to a sales score.
Follow the connections. Choose your direction.
The need worth working on.
A business can collect satisfaction ratings while missing loneliness, insecure work, poor access or the pressure of unpaid care. People also mean different things by happiness. A useful research service should let participants define a good outcome and resist turning distress into a simple market segment.
What the enterprise could offer.
Develop a wellbeing service-research practice using non-clinical interviews, service mapping and participant-chosen indicators. Focus on one setting, such as a shared workplace or community programme, and identify a practical change that the responsible organisation can actually make.
People to build with
- Community organisations improving a programme
- Workplaces examining a practical barrier to participation
- Women-led ventures testing a non-clinical wellbeing offer
A participant-defined improvement
Agree a narrow research question and optional ways to contribute.
Map current services and practical constraints without diagnosing participants.
Select one change within the organisation's control.
Return to participants and ask whether the change mattered in their terms.
The first result
A participant-approved findings brief and a measured service improvement.
What needs to be demonstrated.
Practical pilot
The starting evidence
Non-clinical service research can investigate access and experience. It does not establish a mental-health treatment effect.
The open question
The source defines no population, service, validated outcome measure or qualified clinical programme.
The next measurement
Compare the participant-chosen indicator before and after the agreed organisational change.
Build the means to deliver.
Useful capabilities and resources
- An experienced researcher and lived-experience advisers
- A willing organisation with authority to change the service
- Appropriate professional referral information
A possible business model
Commissioned research and improvement support, with personal experiences kept separate from advertising profiles.
A leadership decision to practise
Let participants influence what success means and give the organisation responsibility for acting on findings it can change.
People, consequences and decisions.
- A simple score can hide different experiences.
- Participants may feel pressured to give positive feedback.
- Research may identify needs the organisation cannot meet.
If equality were being designed now...
- Does the service reduce burdens women identify themselves?
- Can people decline personal questions and still take part?
Begin with women's own experiences across bodies, ages, cultures and places. Invite disagreement and choose a practical change together.

From the original suggestion to a working brief.
Developed from original enterprise 103 in the 500 Queens VC NEW Long presentation (slide 18) and the planning document (page 8). This expanded brief is a proposed development path, not evidence of an operating venture or a confirmed partner.
Original title: Mental Health & Happiness. The pilot, business model and learning connections on this page are proposed developments of that original idea.
