Chronicles of the Forgotten · track 12
Breaking Chains
analysed
In the album's world of masked institutions and glowing circuitry, a person stands before a wall of forged shackles that were welded 'before our eyes,' the veil still over the room. Line by line they tear that veil down and the light 'comes in' through the crack, until a crowd that was told 'who we had to be' rises as one and takes the control room. The finale is not a battle but a claiming: hands on the veil, pulling.
Arc: Opens bound and lied to with chains forged before our eyes, ends owning the night with the future claimed as ours.

Verbatim lines that stand alone, for lyric posters, metal prints and t-shirts.
Breaking the chains, breaking the lies
The future's ours
Our hearts are free, our minds awake
We break the chains, we own the night
The power of truth will now prevail
No more fear, no more disguise
We rise as one
We're free at last
Line by line
“The chains they forged before our eyes”
Wide shot of a forge welding shackles in plain sight in a public square, citizens watching passively, firelight on blank faces. The oppression is not hidden, it is performed openly.
“They told us who we had to be”
A masked institution figure stamping identical masks onto a line of faces, assembly-line gesture, cold blue institutional light.
“The shackles break, the light comes in”
Extreme close on a single iron link snapping; a hard blade of daylight lances through the gap. Camera pushes into the crack.
“A new rebellion must begin”
First hand raised in a dark archive room full of shelved records; one glowing circuit line wakes and runs along the wall toward it.
“To break the chains, reclaim our soul”
A person unclasping a shackle from their own wrist and pressing that same hand to their sternum. Reclaiming, not just escaping.
“We tear the chains from blinded eyes”
Slow tug of a blindfold sliding off; underneath, eyes reflect the signal tower lights for the first time. Focus racks from cloth to pupil.
“We will not be controlled by disguise”
A hand rips a smooth mask off a faceless authority to reveal only more circuitry underneath, ambiguous: is the machine the oppressor or the waking witness.
“Our hearts are free, our minds awake”
Two-shot: one hand over a chest, one over a temple, both lit warm gold against the album's cold grey ruins.
“No more of what the shadows take”
A ledger or archive shelf where taken names have been blacked out; a finger wipes one clear and the true name glows back through.
“Breaking the chains, tearing the veil”
Crowd gripping a vast grey veil hung across a ruined arch and pulling it down in unison; behind it, a warning sky clearing to open horizon.
“We'll rise as one, no more refrain”
Overhead crane shot: scattered lone figures walking, then converging into a single moving mass across cracked stone toward a signal tower.
“The future's ours—we break the chains!”
A shackle dropped onto the ground in slow motion, dust bursting up, boot stepping past it out of frame toward the light. Hold on the abandoned chain.
“They thought we'd bow, they thought we'd fall”
A figure forced to their knees who instead plants one hand and begins to stand, low angle, the horizon rising behind them.
“No more whispers, no more shame”
Close on a mouth that has been silenced (finger-to-lips gesture dropping away), then the same mouth opening to shout, no sound designed, just the visual of the release.
“In every heart, in every soul, the fire burns”
Chest-height tracking shot down a line of people, a small ember of orange light kindling behind each ribcage as we pass, a chain reaction of fire instead of iron.
“The shadows flee before our light, we own the night”
Long shadows on a ruin wall retreating fast as a warm light source advances; final frame the crowd stands lit under a night sky, no longer hiding in it but holding it.
Lyrics
Verse 1:
Bound by fear, held by lies,
The chains they forged before our eyes.
They told us who we had to be,
But now we rise to set us free.
The shackles break, the light comes in,
A new rebellion must begin.
The time has come to seize control,
To break the chains, reclaim our soul.
Pre-Chorus:
We’ve waited far too long to fight,
Now we will rise, now we unite.
No more fear, no more disguise,
We tear the chains from blinded eyes.
Chorus:
Breaking the chains, breaking the lies,
We will not be controlled by disguise.
Our hearts are free, our minds awake,
No more of what the shadows take.
Breaking the chains, tearing the veil,
The power of truth will now prevail.
We’ll rise as one, no more refrain,
The future’s ours—we break the chains!
Verse 2:
They thought we’d bow, they thought we’d fall,
But now we rise above it all.
The chains of lies that bound our past,
We cast aside, we’re free at last.
No more whispers, no more shame,
We rise to claim our rightful name.
In every heart, in every soul,
The fire burns, we take control.
Pre-Chorus:
We’ve waited far too long to fight,
Now we will rise, now we unite.
No more fear, no more disguise,
We tear the chains from blinded eyes.
Chorus:
Breaking the chains, breaking the lies,
We will not be controlled by disguise.
Our hearts are free, our minds awake,
No more of what the shadows take.
Breaking the chains, tearing the veil,
The power of truth will now prevail.
We’ll rise as one, no more refrain,
The future’s ours—we break the chains!
Bridge (Building Power):
Oh, the chains will fall, the fire will rise,
We’re taking back the truth from lies.
The shadows flee before our light,
We break the chains, we own the night.
Chorus (Finale):
Breaking the chains, breaking the lies,
We will not be controlled by disguise.
Our hearts are free, our minds awake,
No more of what the shadows take.
Breaking the chains, tearing the veil,
The power of truth will now prevail.
We’ll rise as one, no more refrain,
The future’s ours—we break the chains!
