Waves of Reflection (By He)
analysed
A woman returns alone to the Straddie shoreline at golden hour, sitting at the tideline where she once paved a path with someone now gone. She keeps waiting for the water to hand her an answer, until she realises she came not for answers but to stop moving. She stays past sunset, and each incoming wave leaves her standing straighter.
Arc: Starts seated and searching, unable to find answers in restless thought, and ends standing a little while longer, feeling stronger and carried by the waves.

Phrases for posters and merch
Verbatim lines that stand alone, for lyric posters, metal prints and t-shirts.
Waves of reflection, pulling me in
In the ocean's truth, I can't hide
The water whispers secrets unknown
With every crash, a page is turned
Maybe it's in the stillness, where I find it all
Carried by the waves of today
With each passing wave, I feel stronger
Every ripple, a lesson learned
Line by line
“I sit by the shore, watching the waves,”
Open low and wide behind her shoulders, seated on damp sand, horizon line high in frame so the sea fills most of the shot. She does not move. Let the waves do the moving.
“They tell me stories of the paths I've paved.”
Cut to her own footprints leading down the dune path to where she sits, the incoming tide already erasing the earliest ones. The 'paths I've paved' are literally being unmade behind her.
“In the stillness, I can hear my mind,”
Sudden drop in ambient sound: mute the waves for a beat, hold on her eyes only. The stillness is a cut in the audio, not just the image.
“The tide rolls in, then pulls away,”
Locked-off shot of one patch of sand, time-lensed so the water advances over her bare feet and withdraws. Her feet stay put while everything around them shifts.
“Just like the thoughts I've had today.”
Match-cut the retreating foam to a handwritten note or list slipping from her fingers into the wet sand, ink already blurring. Thought as something the tide takes.
“Waves of reflection, pulling me in,”
Slow push-in on her face mirrored in a thin sheet of retreating water at her feet, her reflection wobbling with each new ripple. Shoot the reflection, not the face.
“I'm lost in the echoes of where I've been.”
Brief double-exposure: the same shoreline in warmer daylight ghosted over the present dusk, a second figure who is no longer there beside her. Keep it faint, magical-realist, not sci-fi.
“The sun dips low, casting golden light,”
Backlit rim on her hair and shoulders, the sea gone molten. Let lens flare streak the frame. This is the album's coastal golden hour at full strength.
“On memories that flicker just out of sight,”
Rack focus past her to something on the horizon that never resolves, a distant ferry light or a shape that dissolves each time the camera reaches for it.
“The island breeze, it holds me close,”
Wind visibly pressing her jacket and hair against one side of her body, the pandanus and dune grass all leaning the same way. The island physically embraces her.
“Every ripple, a lesson learned,”
Extreme close on a single ripple spreading across a still tidal pool, concentric and precise, contrasted against the chaos of the surf beyond.
“With every crash, a page is turned.”
On the word 'crash', a white wave breaks and we cut to a real page turning, a weathered notebook or the album's handwritten-sign motif, wind flipping it forward.
“But maybe it's in the stillness,”
The bridge's turn: hold the longest, quietest static shot of the film. No camera move, no cut, the surf softening. Reward the audience for staying still with her.
“So I'll stay here a little while longer,”
She shifts for the first time all song, not to leave but to settle in deeper, drawing her knees up as the light goes blue. Movement that means staying, against the expectation of departure.
“With each passing wave, I feel stronger.”
Rise to a standing low angle: she is now on her feet at the tideline, small against a big darkening sea, spine straight. The seated opening answered by a standing close.
“Carried by the waves of today.”
Final wide, pull back and up so she becomes one figure on a long empty Straddie beach, the last gold gone, only the pale line of surf still moving toward her.
Lyrics
Verse 1
I sit by the shore, watching the waves,
They tell me stories of the paths I’ve paved.
In the stillness, I can hear my mind,
Searching for the answers I’ve yet to find.
The tide rolls in, then pulls away,
Just like the thoughts I’ve had today.
Chorus
Waves of reflection, pulling me in,
I’m lost in the echoes of where I’ve been.
The water whispers secrets unknown,
And in these moments, I’ve found my own.
Waves of reflection, deep and wide,
In the ocean’s truth, I can’t hide.
Verse 2
The sun dips low, casting golden light,
On memories that flicker just out of sight.
The island breeze, it holds me close,
Reminding me of what matters most.
Every ripple, a lesson learned,
With every crash, a page is turned.
Chorus
Waves of reflection, pulling me in,
I’m lost in the echoes of where I’ve been.
The water whispers secrets unknown,
And in these moments, I’ve found my own.
Waves of reflection, deep and wide,
In the ocean’s truth, I can’t hide.
Bridge
I’ve been searching for meaning,
In the rise and the fall.
But maybe it’s in the stillness,
Where I find it all.
Chorus
Waves of reflection, pulling me in,
I’m lost in the echoes of where I’ve been.
The water whispers secrets unknown,
And in these moments, I’ve found my own.
Waves of reflection, deep and wide,
In the ocean’s truth, I can’t hide.
Outro
So I’ll stay here a little while longer,
With each passing wave, I feel stronger.
In the quiet, I’ll find my way,
Carried by the waves of today.
