Select one mission purpose and define the useful output.

Plasma Fusion in Space
Study the whole engineering chain behind a proposed fusion system for space.
Follow the connections. Choose your direction.
The need worth working on.
A space fusion proposal involves more than producing a plasma. It needs a defined purpose, energy accounting, materials, heat rejection, controls and integration with a mission. The original title leaves open whether the ambition is power generation or propulsion, which leads to very different requirements.
What the enterprise could offer.
Develop a source-led engineering study that selects one of those purposes and maps the unresolved steps. Begin with published experiment data and a transparent system model. Any physical plasma work would belong with an experienced laboratory rather than an improvised startup demonstration.
People to build with
- Students and researchers examining space energy systems
- Subsystem developers considering a materials or controls problem
- Mission designers comparing a frontier option with established alternatives
Choose power or propulsion, then account for the system
Review an appropriate published experimental reference with a qualified specialist.
Map energy inputs, losses, heat handling, mass and supporting equipment.
Compare the proposed architecture with a conventional reference mission.
Identify one subsystem question that can be investigated independently.
The first result
A reviewed system model and research brief showing the gap between an experiment and a space system.
What needs to be demonstrated.
Research frontier
The starting evidence
The proposed enterprise is a research and modelling concept. It has no demonstrated space fusion plant or propulsion system.
The open question
The source specifies no confinement approach, validated energy balance, mission architecture or flight-qualified equipment.
The next measurement
Independently reproduce a selected published calculation before proposing any new experimental claim.
Build the means to deliver.
Useful capabilities and resources
- A qualified plasma or fusion researcher
- A space systems engineer
- Traceable experimental literature and modelling tools
A possible business model
Research communication, systems studies or a narrowly defined subsystem contract, with a complete fusion product remaining a long-term research ambition.
A leadership decision to practise
Keep the selected useful output and complete energy accounting visible in every pitch. Decide which missing result would stop further development.
People, consequences and decisions.
- A plasma demonstration can be mistaken for a useful power system.
- Heat rejection and supporting equipment may dominate the mission.
- A promising laboratory result may not transfer to space operation.
If equality were being designed now...
- Can women access the research skills and authority needed to lead the programme?
- Whose labour and resources are hidden in the complete system model?
Begin with women's own experiences across bodies, ages, cultures and places. Invite disagreement and choose a practical change together.

From the original suggestion to a working brief.
Developed from original enterprise 80 in the 500 Queens VC NEW Long presentation (slide 17) and the planning document (page 8). This expanded brief is a proposed development path, not evidence of an operating venture or a confirmed partner.
Original title: Plasma Fusion in Space. The pilot, business model and learning connections on this page are proposed developments of that original idea.
