Start on the island

Straddie was a family home away from home for years before I lived here. Mum, my grandmother and other family were at Amity. I came for family and waves; these days there’s work, music and plenty of projects here too.

I remember hearing a cyclone was on its way and thinking about the surf. Bodyboarding was a big part of what brought me back to the island. Later came festival work, history transcription for the museum, websites and a growing collection of local projects.

I’m also interested in what shared computing, training and creative facilities could offer here. The Dunwich node and Ready S..E.T. Co-op are proposals I’m developing, alongside digital twins and materials research.

Ready S..E.T. Co-op means Ready Sustainable Employment and Training Cooperative, a play on ‘ready, set, go’. I’m proposing it alongside a Dunwich cultural intelligence node to connect shared work, learning and infrastructure.
