Installing the
Missing Middle

A complete installation, not a box delivered to a building

Brad’s team turns each site and workload brief into an engineered, commissioned and maintainable node.

The installation package

The repeatable package covers the rack and supporting compute, storage and networking; electrical supply and distribution; UPS and its protected loads; liquid cooling and heat exchange; the secure equipment space; access and handling; monitoring; service documentation; commissioning; and local handover. Site-specific works remain visible instead of being hidden inside a single equipment price.

Design heat recovery around a real use

Assess the host’s water-heating needs, operating hours, temperature requirements and seasonal pattern. Separate the computing coolant circuit from the building-water system through the appropriate engineered interfaces. Meter useful heat actually delivered and the energy used to deliver it. Where a heat pump, buffer storage or additional plant is appropriate, include its costs and performance in the site design.

Computing and heat have independent continuity needs

The host’s hot-water service needs a defined response when the rack is unavailable, and the rack needs cooling when the host cannot accept its heat. The installation design therefore includes the necessary alternative cooling and heating arrangements. Recovered heat is a useful co-product of computing, not a reason to make either service depend on an unsuitable operating condition.

UPS as part of the whole system

Brad’s delivery team defines the loads to protect, runtime, controls, bypass and maintenance arrangements, and the connection to any longer-duration backup. Essential local services can have a different continuity requirement from a full rack running its most demanding workload. Pumps, controls, networking and monitoring belong in that assessment alongside the processors.

Commission and hand over the working system

The acceptance package demonstrates the agreed power, cooling, heat transfer, networking, monitoring and recovery behaviour. It includes asset identifiers, warranties, measured results, operating instructions, training records, maintenance arrangements and a usable digital twin of the installed environment. The co-operative receives an asset it understands how to operate and maintain.
